Square, the circular bezel set with seed-pearls enclosing the white enamel dial with black arabic chapter and pierced gold hands, the frame enamelled in translucent pink over an engraved moiré ground, and applied with a ribbon tied wreath of husks encircling three-quarters of the aperture and tied at one angle of the frame, the gold laurel-leaf rim with a rosette at each corner, Art Nouveau style scroll strut, marked on rim, clock and strut

Lot Essay

Fabergé desk clocks with gold rims are extremely rare on the market, at present.
The clock was purchased for 400 rubles by Dowager Maria Feodorovna on December 31st 1906. We are grateful to Valentin Skurlov for the above information.
