Each vase form on a circular foot, with everted wavy rim, the surface with an all-over fine matte finish, applied on the sides with four tapering panels of overlapping acanthus leaves, marked on rim with supplier's mark and standard mark

Lot Essay

A vase made by Mario Buccellati in 1935 with the same textured surface is illustrated in Martina Corgnati, Mario Buccellati: Prince of Goldsmiths, New York, 1998, p. 30. The matting tool used was a twelve-point nail.
