Lot Essay

These parcel-gilt goblets and candlesticks demonstrate Stuart Devlin's characteristic use of abstracted and textured surfaces. Devlin's work as one of the most dynamic designers of silver in post-war Britain has most recently been noted in Treasures of the 20th Century: Silver, jewellery and art medals from the 20th Century Collection of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, 2000.
