I AM SICK OF GOD DAMN NEAR EVERYBODY ELSE
The author, desperately trying to return to writing seriously complains about the interruptions forced on him by visitors including Ava Gardner ("the press jumped her on arrival... there were reports in New York that she had been beaten up in a fight... awfully nice with us and as mixed up as ever"). Even so he invites screenwriter Viertel down and relates news of Sinsky ("when he drinks he breaks something Mary loves or himself..."), Gig, Mouse and Louis Miguel.
Hemingway twice mentions being forced to "pull out" if the distractions continue even recounting the not infrequent drunken telephone callers ("...have them any time but usually when people get fried after midnight"). An entertaining letter.
