Sultanabad District, West Persia, circa 1880
The shaded rust-red field with a vase issuing delicate flowering vine together with a polychrome palmette, the pale gray mihrab arch above containing polychrome spotted flowering and leafy vine, the ivory side panels containing delicate jewel-motifs, stylised hooked vine and palmettes, golden and ivory panels above containing palmettes and stylised floral sprays, a shaded blue cartouche panel below containing three bold palmettes flanked by serrated leaves issuing floral sprays, in a shaded rust red-border with a delicate floral spray inner frame, minute surface stains, excellent condition
