Lot Essay

The attribution to Foort has kindly been confirmed by Jan de Maere although he points out that due to the scarcity of confirmed works by the artist this ascription can only be tentative. He considers the panel characteristic for an artist from the immediate circle of Maerten de Vos, working in circa 1570.
