The rectangular top above a carved frieze fitted with two long paneled drawers surrounded by carved bosses, supported on block and cup and cover turned legs, mounts later, restorations, replacements

Lot Essay

This dresser is of the open variety due to the fact that its lower portion consists only of supports and is not enclosed by further doors. This form evolved out of various other pieces of dining room serving furniture such as the court cupboard and the sideboard. It represents the style of the Late 17th Century with its mitred molding panelled drawers and ring and block turned legs.
