With two quarter-veneered serpentine rectangular ormolu-moulded tiers, the lower tier applied with cherubic rocaille handles, above two short frieze drawers, on cabriole legs tapering to foliate-cast sabots

Lot Essay

An identical model serviteur à fidèle made by Zwiener and supplied in 1895 to Kaiser Wilhelm II for the Schloss Neues Palais, Potsdam, was sold Christie's New York, 14 September 1995, lot 453 ($15,000). See lot 256 for a further note on Zwiener.
