ROLEWINCK, Werner (1425-1502). Fasciculus temporum. Strassburg: Johann Prüss, [1487]-1488.

Provenance: contemporary contents note on pastedown -- Graf Konrad Reuttner von Weyl: sale, Bloomsbury Book Auctions, 31 October 1985, lot 102 (to Lathrop Harper).
A Sammelband bringing together a rare Drach edition of a popular legal textbook, the probable fourth edition of Regnierus's legal work, and a composite copy of Rolewinck's popular Fasciculus temporum, combining sheets from Prüss's 1487 edition and his 1488 page-for-page reprint. The two editions are distinguished by BMC only by the type used for the title and headings, and the number of lines in the table. Such close reprints allowed printers to combine seamlessly sheets from various editions, thereby using up all earlier stock by completing it with newly printed sheets. Other examples have undoubtedly escaped detection owing to the nearly identical typesetting, but one came to light recently when a copy of the Fasciculus temporum combining sheets from different Ratdolt editions was offered at Christie's London (29 November 2000, lot 53).
1487 edition: H 6936*; BMC I, 120 (IB. 1597) Schreiber 5117; Goff R-273. 1488 edition: HC(+Add) 6937*; BMC I, 121 (IB. 1630); Schreiber 5118; Goff R-274.
