Between 1948-1960 the Hallmark Art Award was sponsored by Hallmark Cards and directed by Wildenstein Gallery to support and encourage contemporary artists. This work, along with the 49 others in the traveling exhibition, were included by invitation and were judged by Alfred Frankfurter, Lloyd Goodrich and James Johnson Sweeney.
