Lot Essay

An important early Herring sculpture, this work was included in the artist's first New York exhibition at Max Protetch. It is part of a series of works entitled A Flower for Ethyl Eichelberger consisting primarily of simple garments that have been obsessively knit by the artist with synthetic materials.
