A rare Kakiemon figure of a boy
Edo Period (circa 1680)
Modelled seated on a shogi table, holding a puppy in his arms, wearing a one-piece garment tied around his neck and back, a smiling expression on his face, decorated in iron-red, blue, green, yellow and black enamels, the shogi table with underglaze blue rulings and stylised scrolling foliage around a peony to each side, raised on four feet, the puppy restuck and with three minute chips
