the rectangular top on pairs of square section legs and bracket feet, united by a seat, with central hinged lid enclosing compartment, flanked by hinged end flaps - 168cm. wide

Mr Miles Tomalin, thence by descent.

Miles Tomalin, a poet and documentary scriptwriter, met Edward Barnsley during 1920's when he moved to Hampshire. Barnsley let Tomalin and his wife live in a cottage attached to his property which had previosusly been the home of the poet, Edward Thomas. The convertible table/settle is listed in the client register and job books at the Barnsley workshop and was given to Tomalin whilst at the cottage.
