4o (220 x 170 mm). 20 leaves. Elaborate woodcut architectural title border, woodcut tailpiece. (Some light spotting and marginal soiling.) Contemporary vellum over thin pasteboard, manuscript Hebrew lettering on covers (some soiling).

The author was Rabbi of Coesfeld (Westphalia). When he was slandered by an apostate, his goods and fortune were confiscated and he and his family were expelled in 1674 by the Duke Christoph Bernard, he took refuge in Amsterdam but was later reinstated in his function. In 1677, on the eve of the execution of the slanderous apostate, he initiated a fast in his community with the recitation of the penitential prayers which he composed. See: Enc.
