[AUSTRIA].
2o (298 x 196 mm). Two woodcut fraktur initials. (Some dampstaining, light worming, mostly marginal, some fraying to last leaves.) Contemporary Austrian blind-tooled goatskin over pasteboard, upper cover with a classical medallion roll surrounding 4 vertical rows of rosette and pomegranate tools, lower cover with same medallion roll, a roll of drums, animals and other figures, and a third roll of muthical creatures, pomegranate tools in the narrow central compartment, remnants of a pair of leather ties, lower pastedown detached exposing printer's waste (some wear to corners and edges, slight worming to covers, hinges reinforced).
An unusual binding with strong impressions of the tools. The rosette and pomegranate tools are half a century older than the three roll tools; their combined use appears rather anachronistic. The text concerns a wide variety of laws, regulating alcohol, fabrics, employment, weddings, etc. BM/STC German, p. 58.
