Contemporary local binding of yellow-green doeskin over pasteboard, wastepaper pastedowns of the Milanese printers Giovanni Giacomo de Legnano e fratelli, first quarter of the 16th century, inscribed "Salnan Notere" on top edge (a trifle worn). Provenance: contemporary own ers' signatures.
AN EXTREMELY IMPORANT COLLECTION OF EARLY PROVENçAL LAWS AND STATUTES. The first edition of the Ordonnances is of particular rarity. Denis de Harsy had to settle for issuing the second edition of the Taux, since a three-year Royal privilege for that text had been granted to Dominique de Portonariis. The third work is the first production of Pierre Roux, Avignon's most prolific printer in the second half of the 16th century. Most are written in Latin, but some are in the Provençal language.
