SEAL: The Royal seal of Emperor Franz Josef, in orange-red wax (diameter 102 mm. (4 in.), a shield device on a two-headed eagle with claws clutching a sword and an orb, a crown suspended above), in two-piece gilded brass protective case (cover with a device similar to seal, with flanking griffons), pendant on a braided cord of gold thread. A particularly fine late example of this traditional form of document.
