A SASSANIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER DECORATED BOAT-SHAPED DISH
CIRCA 6TH CENTURY A.D.
Of elongated lobed form, the underside decorated in relief with figures of a cavorting nude dancing girl at each end wearing necklace, bracelets and anklets, with a flowing veil behind, the lobed sides with a pair of confronting birds between a plant, one pair holding a ring between their beaks, the other pair a sprig of two cherries, scrolling vines below and leaping foxes in the corners
