AN EGYPTIAN 'MUMMY' LINEN BINDING FRAGMENT WITH VIGNETTES AND HIERATIC INSCRIPTION
LATE PERIOD, CIRCA 600-300 B.C.
With a scene of the deceased man with raised hands worshipping a figure of Osiris supported by Hathor, the lady of the West, standing before an altar, bearing a round loaf and lotus flower; behind the deities sits a cow, "Isis mother of Apis", on a shrine with a table of offerings and two water jars in front, with four lines and columns of an ink hieratic inscription below, and to the left two vignettes of a recumbent cow on a shrine with altars in front, in glazed mount
