THREE COPTIC TEXTILE TUNIC FRAGMENTS
CIRCA 6TH-9TH CENTURY A.D.
One rectangular, the blue wool background woven with undyed linen decoration showing confronting pairs of long-necked quadrupeds, each with head turned back, with curling mane and foreleg bent, and confronting pairs of birds, all with plants between, 16¾ x 9 in. (42.5 x 22.8 cm.) max.; and two rectangular textile tunic fragments, each with a maroon roundel decorated with diminutive figures, and a green, orange, red and yellow frieze with figurative roundels, 15¾ x 4¾ in. (40 x 12 cm.) and 14½ x 3¾ in. (36.8 x 9.5 cm.), all mounted in two frames (2)
