AN APULIAN RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER ATTRIBUTED TO THE LATERZA PAINTER
375-355 B.C.
Side A: a maenad running to the right holding a thyrsos out in front, looking back towards a naked youth following her, holding a wreath out to him, he carries a laden phiale with a cloak draped over his arm, a thyrsos in his right hand, a spotted fillet and ball in the field, details added in white and yellow
Side B: two draped youths each carrying a staff
Palmettes below the handles, a band of meander and crossed squares below, laurel wreath beneath the rim
