A CYPRIOT TERRACOTTA MODEL OF A THREE HORSE CHARIOT
CYPRO-ARCHAIC II, 6TH CENTURY B.C.
On an integral rectangular base, the chariot with two figures, infront the charioteer with arms outstretched to hold the reins, a slightly taller warrior standing behind with right arm by his side, the left arm outstretched, wearing a conical helmet and a circular shield on his back, the chariot drawn by three horses, a yoke across their necks, repaired with some restoration, 6 3/8 in. (16.2 cm.) high; a Cypriot Bichrome Red ware pottery juglet with dark brown concentric circles on the body, encircling lines on the neck and a red band around the rim, 750-600 B.C., 3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm.) high; and a Cypriot incised red ware wishbone-handled hemispherical bowl with zigzag decoration under the rim, 1725-1600 B.C., 5½ in. (14 cm.) diam. (3)
