Lot Essay

Cf. two Qianlong examples, one from the Edmund F. Dwyer Collection, illustrated by H. Moss, Chinese Snuff Bottles of the Silica and Quartz Group, no. 195; and another sold in these Rooms, 3 May 1994, lot 983. A third example is illustrated in Chinese Snuff Bottles: A Miniature Art from the Collection of Mary and George Bloch, p. 275, no. 216; where the author cites the motifs of ruyi-heads, florettes on the neck and four-character seal mark on the base are all characteristic of Palace Workshop production.
