The fifteen lithographs comprising Allegro Vivace, Miro's final series of prints, make a lyrical and playful ending to the artist's graphic oeuvre. The imagery in these prints is at once explosive and jubilant; intense blacks are interlaced with vibrant purples, reds, greens and yellows, creating fifteen rhythmic compositions, each one different but subtly related to the others. Dupin described the series as depicting an amorous struggle taking place in the stifling heat of a summer night.
