Satomi's 1921 study in France with Maurice de Vlaminck (1876-1958) is evident in this fauve-inspired landscape. Strong color and boldy-hewn shapes define the natural elements in this depiction of the Tateshina Highlands, a popular resort area in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
