A chair of similar form, but more elaborate in detail is illustrated in The First Century of the English Windsor Chair, by S. Jervis, Antiques Dealer and Collectors Guide, where the author suggests the original destination of the chair to be a Masonic Lodge. It is possible that this unusual chair may have had similar origins.
