Although C.Burger-Wegener, Johannes Lingelbach, 1976, does not mention any autograph versions of compostions by the artist, the present lot is here tentatively proposed as a version of lesser merit of the signed picture signed, on canvas, 76.2 x 66 cm, sold at Sotheby's London, 7 December 1994, lot 6, ill. This latter painting was sold with incorrect provenance, quoted from C.Burger-Wegener, op.cit., p.238, under no.33, as she was probably not aware of the existence of the present lot. She therefore erroneously added the present lot's provenance and exhibition's reference to that of the prototype.
