A GERMAN PEWTER CHANUKKAH LAMP
Set on four claw-feet, the shaped backplate with shell cresting around two winged cherubs flanking a shell finial above pierced rocailles, the centre engraved with a tulip and foliage, the left side fitted with a cylindrical lidded vessel, the right side lacking the servant-light, the mid-section fitted with a removable row of eight oil pans above a skirted shelf, engraved in Hebrew with part of the blessing over the Chanukkah lights: "Lehadlik ner shel Chanukkah" (To kindle the light of Chanukkah), flanked by two dolphin heads, serving as spouts to catch oil overflow (drip buckets are missing), the lower section consisting of a dripping pan with ornamental railing, struck with two touchmarks on the backplate
