A SMALL PAIR OF METAL AND SILVERED RIMMONIM (Torah Finials)
Probably Germany or Alsace, circa 1840
Supported on three shaped columns, each connected by riveted bolted clasps to adjust the distance between the columns according to the diameter of Torah staves (Atzei Chayim), the staves of the finials each engraved with a lozenge beneath a Hebrew inscription continuing from one finial to the other: "Sarah bat Yehudah Leib, eshet Rabbi Shmuel Toister" (Sarah, daughter of Yehudah Leib, wife of Rabbi Shmuel Toister), the spreading hexagonal bodies applied with riveted stylised flowers, the domed riveted upper parts topped with a pennant finial, inscribed with the Hebrew letters Kaf Taw, abbreviation of Keter Torah (Torah Crown)
