With nickel-finished jewelled lever movement, the black dial with luminous 24 hour numerals, luminous hands, outer tachymetric and telemetric scales, three subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours registers, the circular water-resistant-type case with screw back, ribbed revolving bezel, two round chrongraph buttons in the band, together with a stainless steel Breitling link bracelet, Breitling International Warranty, instruction booklet, one additional bracelet link, original fitted presentation box and outer packaging, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

The Navitimer Cosmonaute was created during the early days of space exploration. It is a space-going version of the Navitimer, featuring 24-hour dial divisions. Since night and day are meaningless in space, this dial prevents possible confusion between noon and midnight.
The present model is a reproduction of the watch Captain Scott Carpenter wore under real-life conditions during his orbital flight aboard the Aurora 7 space capsule on 27 May 1962.
