William Etherington served as a Private in the Royal Marines aboard H.M.S. Cumberland in the Boat Service action fought against an enemy convoy in the Bay of Rosas, off Spain, on 1.11.1809; one other man with these names was entitled to the 'Guadaloupe' clasp.
