Lot Essay

Private George Daykin was born in the Parish of Stableford, Nottinghamshire and attested for the 11th Light Dragoons in Middlesex in July 1821, aged 18 years. Going on to complete some 25 years with the Colours, and witness active service in the Bhurtpoor operations, he was discharged at Chatham in June 1846. Daykin was admitted as a Pensioner at Chelsea Hospital in April 1879 and died in October 1883.
