Lot Essay

The Lyndenberg Rifles were raised in all probability by Raaf for the Zulu War of 1879, and were commanded by Commandant L.M. Owen during the Sekukuni Campaign, when equipped with Martini-Henry rifles. The unit was issued with just over 100 Medals, the vast majority with the '1879' clasp.
