The rectangular cabinet decorated to the front and sides with panels depicting figures around pavilions, a landscape and waterscape, the pair of doors opening to reveal three shelves, the brass lock-plate engraved KRIEGER, on a giltwood stand with a guilloche-carved moulding above a trellis frieze with foliate apron, on four scrolled legs, joined by an 'x'-shaped stretcher, on paw feet

Lot Essay

The firm Maison Krieger of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine was established in 1856 by Antoine Krieger. It was consolidated around 1880 by Damon & Cie (see D. Ledoux-Lebard, le Mobilier Français du XIX Siècle, Paris 1989, pp. 396-7).
