Lot Essay

Driver Edwin Petherick enlisted in Taunton, aged 19 years and served in 30th Company, then with C Troop, the Telegraphic Section of the Royal Engineers in South Africa from July to December 1879. Afterwards he was employed in Egypt between September to October 1882, attached to the 19th Hussars; and again from August 1884 to August 1885 with the Telegraphic Battalion of the 1st Division. Petherick was discharged to the Reserve in 1886.
