D.C.M. London Gazette 4.5.1880.

Corporal H. Lougheed, D.C.M., was decorated for bravery at Killa Kazi on 11.12.1879, his Recommendation being submitted to the Queen in early April 1880 (Abbott's Recipients of the Distinguished Conduct Medal 1855-1909 refers). He had enlisted in the 9th Lancers at Curragh in August 1866, aged 18 years, and, following his gallant conduct in the Second Afghan War, been advanced to Lance-Corporal in May 1880 and to Corporal in the following July. Lougheed returned to the U.K. in late 1885 and was discharged three years later.
