[MISSION CONTROL DOCUMENTS]. Apollo 13 Flight Director's Mission Log. N.p., April 1970. 4o. Original wrappers, prong bound Lunar flights appeared to become routine during the beginning of Apollo 13 with only 7 lines of notes until around 50 hours into the mission. After the explosion, 15 pages of extensively detailed hand- written notes were logged. Comments include: "CSM loss power" at 55 hr. 58 min., "Burn to be at 61:30 to get back into free return" and "Burn attitude, Master Arm" as the burn by the Lunar Module descent engine takes place to get the crippled spacecraft on a trajectory that would swing them around the moon to return to earth. Other entries of "Crew sees venting from Service Module and 4 x 4 chunk of metal" at 83 hours, concerns with lithium hydroxide canisters, and several entries with potential problems with the Lunar Module batteries. The final entry at 142 hours 54 minutes is "Splash!". INSCRIBED WITH MISSION TITLE AND SIGNED BY FRED HAISE on first page of log -- Apollo 13, Mission Director's Summary Report. NASA/MSC, April 1970. A short typed summary report by the Mission Director's office on the flight accident. INSCRIBED WITH MISSION TITLE AND SIGNED BY FRED HAISE on the title page. (2)
