silvered dial signed Thomas Mercer, Maker To The Admiralty, London & St. Albans, 9430, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, up-and-down dial, gold hour and minute hands, fusee movement with spotted plates, Earnshaw escapement with spring foot detent, cut bimetallic balance with cylindrical heat compensation weights, white metal helical balance spring, gimballed in brass bowl, brass bound three-tier box with flush handles, the second tier with a plaque signed Hutchinson & Jackson, Sunderland, 19cm sq.
