Lot Essay

The present drawing is one of a series of twelve Tanguy drawings created for possible reproduction in a special double issue of Charles Henri Ford's VIEW magazine (May 1942) dedicated to the work of Tanguy and Pavel Tchelitchew. The inscription "WY" may refer to Woodbury, Connecticut, where Tanguy and his wife Kay Sage moved earlier that year.
