by Louis Désir (fl. 1745-1764), marked, Paris, 1761/1762, with the charge and discharge marks of Eloy Brichard, struck with two French Departmental post-1838 restricted warranty marks for silver
Ingot-shaped box, the cover, sides and base engraved with radiating alternating reeded and foliate stripes centred by scalloped reserves chased with architectural motifs and roses in two-colour gilt on silver sunburst grounds, the gilt borders engraved with wickerwork
