Lot Essay

William Cockayne, youngest son of the 5th Viscount Cullen, was Comptroller of the Household at Dublin Castle in 1790 and subsequently Governor of Limerick Castle. He married Barbara Hill (see lot 102) and had issue with ten daughters. For another miniature of William Cockayne, see lot 65.
