A LOUIS XVI ENAMELLED GOLD SEALING-WAX CASE
by Louis Ouizille (fl. 1768-1790), marked, Paris 1779/1780, with the charge mark of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, the counter-mark and second discharge mark of Henry Clavel
Slightly tapering étui-à-cire of flattened oval section, both sides of cover and base with octagonal panels enamelled with brown branches on translucent opalescent oyster pink on horizontal wavy guilloché reeding, within opaque white enamelled dotted borders, divided by gold bands simulating suede stamped with garlands of foliage twisted with undulating strands of opaque white enamel beads interspersed with translucent red enamel ovolos, the cover topped by a slightly domed oval flowerspray enamelled in translucent green and red on a matted ground, surrounded by a band of white enamel dots, stamped laurel rims, the polished gold matrix engraved with monogram 'PT' surrounded by a garland of flowers; with fitted hinged green shagreen case
