by Joseph-Etienne Blerzy (fl. 1768 - after 1806), marked, with the Post-Revolutionary unofficial standard mark for 18 ct. gold, Paris and the excise mark for gold, Paris 1798-1809, the flange struck with inventory number 57, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks
Oval box, the cover, side and base panels enamelled in translucent blue on an engine-turned ground engraved with horizontal wavy reeding, within translucent blue borders decorated with taille d'épargne trailing foliage, the sides similarly bordered, the lid centred by an oval polychrome enamel miniature depicting a boy unveiling a sleeping beauty, within a blue enamel border alternating gold lozenges with squares, the side pilasters similarly adorned with taille d'épargne urns
