Octagonal flat box, the lower half of the cover enamelled with a scene painted en grisaille against a black ground, depicting Daniel and the Lion, surmounted by a scrolling floral demi-rosette stamped in gold on a matted ground with foliate border above and flanked by two matted gold bands engraved with foliage, the upper half of the lid enamelled in opaque white simulating lace embroidered with flowers, the base centred with a similar rectangular panel with lace trompe-l'oeil surrounded by a matted gold border engraved with a foliate wavescroll band framed by blue enamel fillets, the sides similarly engraved and enamelled
