woven with three arched cartouches to each end enclosing sinuous flowering trees against a pair of adorsed boteh, with a column of palmettes between, the circular field of black wool invaded by flowering fronds and surrounded by red flame-shaped palmettes against a blue ground, with embroidered harlequin borders and small embroidered inscription to the centre, Kashmir, 19th century--140cm x 300cm
