An embroidered moon shawl,
the ground composed of bands of yellow, blue, red, green black and white wool, embroidered with a boteh filled medallion around a stellar centre, the field worked with columns of palmettes within curving leaves, the borders with a meandering vine, Persian, 19th century, (holes), with small calligraphic cartouche--118cm x 132cm

Said to have come from the family of Sir Joseph Desirée Tholozon KCMG, doctor to Nasser Ud Din, Shah of Persia in the late 19th century.
