A celebratory hanging of burgundy facecloth
dedicated to Tsar Nicolas II, Emperor of Russia, applied and embroidered with a central cypress tree-shaped calligraphic cartouche, against a ground densely worked with brightly coloured flowers, the borders with further inscriptions eulogising the Emperor, the outer borders with boteh and flower-filled cornucopia, Rescht, dated 1896, (damages and repairs, possibly reduced)--174cm x 344cm

Further details
This may have been made as a gift to Nicolas II from the new Shah of Persia, Muzaffer ad-Din (1896-1907), after his elevation in the year 1896.
The lower cartouche bears the name of the factory of Muhammad Bagher Hussein.
