Part I: half-title, engraved title, letterpress title, 26 engraved plates (6 double-page), engraved double-page map and 6 engraved illustrations in text; part II: sectional title, 11 engraved plates (8 double-page), 2 engraved double-page maps, 5 engraved illustrations in text. Contemporary German blindstamped pigskin, front cover with black-stamped arms, initials and date, "J.W. Anno 1700." Provenance: Dr. Otto L. Schmidt (1863-1935), President of the Illinois State Historical Society (bookplate).

Later sections discuss costume, religion, customs and politics.
