2 parts bound in one, 2o (505 x 310 mm). Engraved title page and 85 engraved plates, 23 in part one by Nicolas Robert. (A few scattered foxmarks.) Contemporary marbled paper over wooden boards, red stained edges (a bit rubbed).

According to the title, the work is intended as a companion volume to Merian's L'Histoire des Insectes & Plants. It was also issued under the title Collection d'oiseaux les plus rare (Paris: Desnos, 1772-74). The first part contains a reissue of most of the plates from two of Robert's works on the birds in the royal menagerie at Versailles (Recueil...; and Suite des Oyseaux le plus rare, both originally published in Paris in 1676).
