Engraved title, medallion portrait of the author, printer's device, and 178 full-page numbered engravings designed and engraved by Pieter van der Borcht (no. 176 signed by him). (Small dampstain to upper inner margins of first 50 or so leaves, blank corner of A4 torn away.) Modern calf; slipcase. MOST DECKLE EDGES PRESERVED.
First edition of these prose synopses of the Metamorphoses with the engravings by the Flemish artist Pieter van der Borcht (1545-1608).
